The Empathy Museum: A Mile in My Shoes at Totally Thames Festival

The Empathy Museum commissioned a group of In The Dark producers to make short audio portraits about people living and working around the River Thames for an exhibition called A Mile in My Shoes.

In September 2015, a pop-up shoe shop opened on the southern bank of the river as part of the Totally Thames Festival. Visitors were fitted with a pair of shoes in their size, given a pair of headphones and then set off for a walk along the shore listening to the shoes’ owner tell their story.

I made two pieces for the exhibition – one with retired stockbroker and houseboat owner Robert Tipping and another with 16-year-old boxer Arnold Puplampu.
